I’m a freelance editor specialising in copy-editing fiction.

 

I worked as a Clinical Scientist in the NHS for over 25 years and so I also have a good knowledge of medical and scientific topics.

 

While still working full time, I edited several crime fiction novels for a friend. They went on to become Amazon best-sellers and he secured a publishing deal. He says, “I don’t release anything until Alison has proofread and edited it for me. She is the single most valuable person in my whole indie-publishing process.” I have also worked on non-fiction and business materials.

 

I have completed several courses in creative writing, copy-editing and proofreading and consider myself to be very literate with a high level of general knowledge. This has come in handy when, for instance, a male Russian character in a novel I was editing had been given a female name!
